Welcome
We are pleased to announce that “The EMBO Workshop on Integrative Perspectives on Musculoskeletal Development” will be held on January 4-8 2015 in Ein Gedi, Israel. This meeting follows two previous, very successful conferences held in Israel on 2008 and 2011, which focused on mechanisms underlying development, morphogenesis and function of the musculoskeletal system.
Typically, scientific meetings are dedicated to the study of a single musculoskeletal tissue. The unique nature of our meeting is in bringing together experts that work on different aspects of musculoskeletal development and function in a variety of vertebrate and invertebrate animal models. We aspire to encourage scientists to think beyond the confines of their specific research subjects in order to promote a wider perspective on musculoskeletal development and evolution. The discussions will address topics such as evolution of the musculoskeletal system, musculoskeletal patterning, interaction among bones, muscles and tendons, motility, hormonal regulation and proprioception.
We believe that a comprehensive view of the musculoskeleton is necessary to create a new understanding of how this system develops and functions. We hope that you will join us in Israel for what we expect to be a highly stimulating and enjoyable meeting.
