Layered (2D) compounds are highly anisotropic materials exhibiting unique properties originating at their saturtion of chemical bonding within two-dimensional layers. The prospect of 2D materials for applications in future electronics, electro-optical devices, (photo)catalysts for light-induced H2O splitting and solar harvesting, CO2 sequestration, supercapacitors and high-power Li-rechargeable batteries, led to a surge of research on 2D-materials few atomic layers thick. Their unique tolerance to lattice mismatch allowed exfoliation of 2D monolayers and restacking different flakes, paving the way for new physical effects, like valleytronics, spintronics and topological matter.

to the breadth of this topic, the conference will cover some key aspects, like synthesis of new 2D materials, catalysis, optical and electrical properties and device physics & engineering. We offer a unique opportunity to meet prominent people in the field and intend to produce stimulating environment for discussions. We offer two prizesfor poster presentation in order to encourage students to register.

The topics of the workshop include:

Emerging synthesis and chemical methods for 2D materials

Energy harvesting and storage

Nanoelectronic and optoelectronic devices

Optics and photonics
