Tour of Jerusalem and Dead Sea area Dec 7-8, 2018

 

Dec 7th 2018. – Jerusalem

 

  • Depart at 08:45 from Rehovot to Jerusalem
  • Western Wall, Room of The Last Supper and David Tomb
  • Church of Holy Sepulcher
  • Old City Market
  • Hanukkah candle lighting ceremony in the old city

We will leave the Weizmann Institute at 8:45am and start our tour with a panoramic view over the basin of the old city.

We will then head to the old city visiting the Western Wall, the Church of Holy Sepulcher and as time allows us, other various sites such as some station of the Via Dolorosa and the colorful bustling market. On our way we will pause for an overview over Temple Mt. and its holy Muslim sites,The Golden Dome and El- Aktsa mosque.

After lunch we will keep touring visiting Mt. Zion and its sites - the room of the last supper and David tomb.  As our tour takes place during Hanukkah, we will have a chance to see the ceremony of lighting the candles in the Old City, before heading to our hotel in Ein Gedi.

 

 

Dec 8th 2018 Dead Sea and Masada

 

The morning will be dedicated to relaxation in the Dead Sea. The service of the hotel shuttles will take those interested to a nearby private beach.

 

After checking out from Ein Gedi we will head to Masada.
Masada has a unique story and archaeology that persuaded UNESCO to recognize it as a world heritage site. On our tour we will visit the Snake Path gate, the Northern Palace, storage rooms, bath house and of course the synago
gue and the breach in the wall located on the western side. Depending on time we might also tour Masada southern side.

Toward 15:00 we will head down and start our trip back to Rehovot to arrive by ~17:30.
