The meeting honors Mark Ratner and his scientific contributions. The seminal paper by Mark Ratner and Arieh Aviram launched interest in the possibility of using single organic molecules and nanostructures components as electronic circuit elements. The experimental and theoretical work performed since the 1974 paper has provided new insight into the electronic properties of molecular systems and their interfaces to bulk materials. The aim of the meeting is to bring together researchers studying varied aspects of this topic, to discuss the current status of the field, and to look toward the future. Numerous scientists working in this field have already confirmed their participation.

The organizing committee:

Roi Baer (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem), David Beratan (Duke University),
Ron Naaman (Weizmann Institute of Science) and Uri Peskin (Technion - Israel Institute of Technology).
