Over the last decade or so, Big Data has been suggested as a way to revolutionize education. Learning Management Systems, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and Intelligent Tutoring Systems, are just a few types of platforms that collect large amounts of data about learning processes and can use these data to improve learning and teaching.
Research in this field is ever-growing, and is mostly promoted by the International Educational Data Mining Society and the Society for Learning Analytics Research, which run annual international conferences (as well as other events) and publish peer-reviewed journals. Many in the educational industry have been constantly trying to improve their products using Big Data. Finally, governmental agencies have become aware of the potential of these data, as well as the challenges in collecting, analyzing and using it.
The Symposium will discuss learning analytics from various points of view. The program is based on invited speakers, including some world-renown experts from around the world. Our plan is to present the state-of-the-art and to provoke a timely discussion on issues related to the topic.
We encourage participation of scholars (including graduate students), educational leaders, policy-makers, EdTech companies, and others. Participation is free but registration is required.
