Sexual dimorphism of neuronal circuits and behavior

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together neuroscientists working with different model organisms and approaches to elucidate the mechanisms underlying sexual dimorphism in brain and behavior. Some of the topics discussed are sexual/courtship and paternal behaviors, molecular mechanisms which drive dimorphic wiring and behavior, dimorphic sensory processing, sex specific behaviors and more. The talks in the symposium will cover a wide range of cutting-edge methods in the field- electrophysiology, neuronal processing, neuronal imaging, optogenetics, behavioral analysis, genetic manipulations, etc. Model organisms will range from worms, to flies, bees, mouse, rats and others. This event includes students and encourages students to participate. There will be a session in which we will choose speakers from abstracts submitted by students and post-docs. In addition, we will have poster sessions during lunch and coffee breaks.

We look forward to stimulating discussions and fostering new collaborations among investigators studying sex-specific behaviors and those developing new tools and methods to dissect the underlying mechanisms.
